Vessel of nature

Light and sound installation
Project for the exhibition "Avant-Garde. List no. 1"
We, Artem Levashov and Anna Skachkova, participated in the sound research laboratory. We found out that we can get sound from light. Later we came up with the idea of a project about noise pollution in cities and how natural sounds are gradually disappearing from the metropolis. We wanted to draw attention to this seemingly inconspicuous problem of human impact on nature. It has a cylinder shape and 12 holes. We recorded 12 sounds of living and inanimate nature and put them inside the cylinder. In every hole is a lamp which is possible to hear using specific technical instrument. There are sounds of nature which are not available here in metropolises; sounds of childhood and peace.

Noise music

This installation/performance is a sort of sound/light alchemy, a play with light, reflecting materials and chemical processes. We can monitor many sorts of normaly inaudible vibrations in all kinds of reflecting media: membranes, liquids, solid objects, listen the sound of water surface, bubbles, foil, plastic bags etc.
